Q&A with Lyndsey

Meet Lyndsey, Recruitment Support specialist at Jigsaw Specialist Recruitment. Lyndsey took part in our Q&A and here is what she said 😊

The key to happiness is….Contentment, with the small things… it adds up to the bigger picture.

What inspires you? My little boy, he always challenges me to think about things from a different perspective and motivates me to be the best version of myself.

Where would you be in the world right now if you weren’t sat at your desk? Dubai speeding down a ride at the Atlantis Water Park…. Or in Australia catching up with family I have not seen for way too long.

What is your favourite band/singer? I love a DJ as opposed to a specific band so it’s got to be Calvin Harris or Fred Again

What is your favourite movie? Labyrinth

Interesting fact that people don’t know… I have a slight obsession with my Peloton bike, and even got to go to the London studios for a live class

If you could meet anyone for an hour who would it be? My Mum, who is no longer with us, I’d like to know if she’s happy with the way I’ve turned out 😊

What is the best thing that has happened to you this year? As cliché as it sounds, so far its been joining the team here at Jigsaw Specialist Recruitment 😊

What is the favourite part of your job? I love the feeling of offering a candidate a role that’s been a labour of love from all sides

What makes you a successful recruiter? I love building that strong relationship with clients and candidates alike, sometimes it doesn’t feel like a job, which I think is the best kind of job 😊

The importance of small recruitment agencies

In today’s fast-evolving job market shaped by technology, small recruitment agencies have emerged as crucial players. Despite the digital age’s transformative impact on recruitment, these agencies offer personalised services that remain highly valuable. This article outlines the reasons behind the continued significance of small recruitment agencies in the modern digital landscape.

  1. Personalised Connection: Small recruitment agencies excel in providing a personalised approach to job seekers and employers. Unlike larger firms that rely heavily on automation, smaller agencies build genuine relationships. They invest time in understanding the unique needs of job seekers and the specific requirements of businesses. This personalised touch often leads to more suitable job matches and enduring employment relationships.
  2. Niche Proficiency: Small agencies often specialise in distinct industries or sectors, allowing them to develop profound expertise. This focus enables them to grasp industry trends, challenges, and opportunities. For job seekers, this translates to working with recruiters who truly comprehend their skills within their chosen field. For businesses, this means accessing candidates who not only possess the right qualifications but also fit the industry culture.
  3. Adaptability and Flexibility: The digital age has given rise to remote work and freelancing. Small recruitment agencies can swiftly adjust to these changes, connecting businesses with flexible talent solutions. Their agility makes them pivotal in shaping the evolving work landscape.
  4. Local Network: Despite the digital reach of platforms, local connections hold immense value in recruitment. Small agencies often have strong local ties, enabling them to uncover opportunities not prominently advertised. Their understanding of local job markets aids job seekers and employers in navigating unique regional dynamics.
  5. Human-Centric Approach: While technology streamlines the recruitment process, it can depersonalise candidates. Small agencies prioritise the human element, vetting candidates and bridging the gap between digital and human recruitment realms. This fosters meaningful connections between talent and opportunity.
  6. Noise Reduction: The digital age has led to an overload of job postings and applications. Small agencies act as filters, curating relevant opportunities for candidates and presenting pre-screened candidates to employers. This reduces the overwhelming nature of job hunting and hiring.

In conclusion, small recruitment agencies thrive due to their personalised approach, niche expertise, agility, local connections, human-centric focus, and ability to simplify the complex job market. As technology reshapes recruitment, the significance of small agencies as facilitators of meaningful employment connections continues to grow.

5 tips for job seekers to make your CV stand out by Jigsaw Director, Natalie Brian

Hi job seekers! If you’re looking for ways to stand out from the crowd when applying for jobs, you’ve come to the right place. Hiring managers prioritise several key elements when screening resumes and CVs, so it’s essential to know what they’re looking for.
1) Relevant experience is crucial. You need to show that you have the skills and knowledge required to excel in the role. Tailor your resume or CV to the specific job you’re applying for and use keywords and phrases that demonstrate your experience in the field or industry.
2) Education and qualifications are essential. Include evidence of these qualifications in your application, so the hiring manager knows you’re ready to take on the job.
3) Achievements and accomplishments can make you stand out from other candidates. Make sure to include awards, promotions, or other recognitions that demonstrate your abilities and potential for growth within the company.
4) Attention to detail is also critical when it comes to your resume or CV. Hiring managers want to see that you’ve taken the time to carefully craft your application and that it’s free from errors and inconsistencies.
5) Cultural fit is important to many companies. Hiring managers want to see that you’ll be a good fit for their company culture. This includes factors such as your values, personality, and work style. Be sure to demonstrate your fit through your application.
By taking the time to highlight your relevant experience and qualifications, provide evidence of your achievements, and showcase your values and work style, you’ll be able to create a CV that catches the attention of hiring managers and increases your chances of securing your dream job. Good luck!
